About Me

I'm a Catholic theologian and medievalist with a particular love for St. Albert the Great. My goal in the classroom is not merely to teach content but to habituate students in the art of reading a theological text. This includes both asking probative questions and personally encountering the intellectual substance of the faith. The former is the scientific dimension of theology, while the latter is the sapiential dimension. They come together as faith seeking understanding. My pedagogy aims to draw students into this space through primary texts.

Why I’m At Mary

The University of Mary harmonizes love for learning and the liturgical worship of God. The joyful, faithful, stable Benedictine charism and character of the University of Mary offers rich soil for its students—and faculty—to grow in all areas of life.

Expertise

My research interests include historical and systematic issues in Christology, Trinitarian Theology, Medieval Exegesis, and Latin receptions of the Greek Fathers, especially Dionysius the Pseudo-Areopagite. My dissertation examines the theme of divine order in the Trinitarian theology of Albert the Great. My contemporary interests include Catholic-Orthodox dialogue and Adult Catechesis.
